Regarded as
one of the supreme chamber ensembles of the world, the Tokyo String
Quartet continues its close association with Friends of Music by
opening this auspicious season performing works by Haydn, Bartok and
Ravel. The London Times said of one of their recent concerts,
"This was quartet playing of the highest order; truly fabulous
playing." Seven Grammy nominations and awards from both Stereo
Review and Gramophone magazines have come to their
extensive recordings.
